Why a live league table
Data providers update a league table only once the matches are over, sometimes tens of minutes later. During a matchday the official table therefore shows the situation before kick-off. FootyScann adds the scores of the matches in progress, plus results that have just finished but haven't been counted yet, and re-orders the teams.
The usual rules apply: 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, then goal difference and goals scored. Teams that aren't playing keep their place from the official table. The table is marked as provisional, so you always know what you are looking at.
What you see in the table
The table opens from the match panel and updates on its own, together with the live list.
- a coloured dot next to the teams playing right now, the same colour for both teams in a match;
- the minute and the score of each match, right on the team's row;
- green and red arrows with the number of places gained or lost against the official table;
- tap a team's row and the opponent's row lights up for a few seconds as well.
League position right in the match cards
You don't have to open the table to know who is playing whom. In the live list and in upcoming matches, each team's league position sits next to its name, along with an arrow showing places gained or lost when matches in progress move it.
The position is shown only when the table is known to be up to date. If the league has played since the last update, the box stays empty rather than showing a wrong place. In Results, every league has its own table, and leagues with groups or stages show each table in turn.
